I live in the South Cheam area, which has long been regarded as a lovely residental area to live in. I totally oppose the construction of new flats anywhere in the area. It will only cause me to re-consider living in the area and move away. South Cheam is one of the most affluent areas in the South London region. Crime is very low and the atmosphere is of a nice village. With City bonuses at an all time high new millionaires are looking for that next place to live. South Cheam could be one of those areas - driving prices up and wealth for all. If South Cheam becomes a haven for new flats everywhere this will not happen. Sutton has this and is regarded throughout London as not a great place to live. In fact I have many friends in the City who call Sutton a dump. If you turn Cheam into something similar it will have a knock on effect to the surrounding areas.
